Hope Unfolding, by Becky Thompson is one of those. This book, you guys. It is, AH-MAZING. I cannot say enough about how good it is. And, if you're not a big reader, just get it and read the last chapter. Friends, this book made me cry - happy tears and big, ugly alligator tears, it made me laugh and it moved my heart.
An absolute favorite on my bookshelf, I seriously recommend this book to ALL mamas. I can see mamas of older kids enjoying and appreciating the book too, however, it is written by a preschool mom and it so resonated with me because of our season of life.
Hope Unfolding is packed with truth, grace and wisdom. The love of Jesus oozes off the pages for mamas and the grace that he so freely offers is so tangible through Becky's writing.
There are so many trendy authors right now that I am so thoroughly disappointed with, but Becky Thompson is NOT one of them, I was a little skeptical as I began the book simply because if we are not cautious, it is easy to fall into the romanticism of wishy-washy words. I can say confidently that Hope Unfolding is NOT wishy-washy. The Truth in it is clear, obvious and Scripture supported.
Writing with multiple personal parallel stories and Scripture references, Becky packs the pages with the ultimate truths and speaks from a vulnerable, blessed place to mamas.
I mentioned that I cried throughout reading this book, all the way through I did not cry half as ugly as I did at the last chapter. She writes to your hurting mama heart and she gives you a visual of bringing Jesus into your biggest (or most recent) mama failure. After having a rough day yesterday, to read the grace and hope that she shared - to be reminded of the truth of the sacrifice and free gift that Jesus gives us is so moving.
I can't say any more without just reading the book to you. Go buy it. Seriously, if I could I would give you all one. It honestly is THAT good.
I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review.
