The Miracle Morning Challenge with Olive June

I am super excited to be embarking on this morning challenge with Janelle from Olive June. Mornings have been difficult since the birth of my first baby, and I've just haven't been able to get into a groove since then.

So, when I saw this post from Simply Gather, on Facebook, I knew it was for me!

I jumped right in and decided to begin.

Today was the first day and I was curious to see how it went. In the post on Olive June, she talks about the Miracle Morning book and what she gained from reading it. She shared several ideas of what to do during your morning time and I adjusted them to fit my own morning time.

She shared these six steps:

(s)ilence: prayer, meditation, reflection, deep breathing
(a)ffirmations: mantras that you repeat to yourself ~ ways to change your programming or the negative thoughts that you carry around
(v)isualizations: also known as a mental reverse, visualization is the practice of creating mental pictures of specific behaviors or outcomes
(e)xercise: so important for us both physically and mentally
(r)eading: a key from many experts in getting to where you want to go
(s)cribing: journaling~ putting thoughts and ideas onto paper + helps to clear a busy mind

I combined several of them, and I included my (aff. link) 51 Challenges challenges! I began my time by reading Psalm 22 for challenge #1, then I went into challenges #19 and #39 in my prayer journal. So I combined the Silence with the Scribing parts of the Morning challenge. I visualized some gratitude journal ideas (challenge #30) on Pinterest, fitting that into the scribing bit too, then, the affirmations and reading came from my Psalm. I also began the book, Simply Tuesday for the reading portion - I'm so excited to HAVE time to READ again!!!

So far I've only exercised mentally (haha!) but hope to get that mixed in still. It IS only the first day! Last week I got two days of exercise in which is huge progress for me no matter where it falls in the day. I found a great YouTube channel that I will be following for workouts. I would also like to try some workouts from a local fitness instructor, Nourish Move Love.

I plan to have a Pinterest board for more visualizing, either that, or working from my Journaling board. I don't totally understand the importance of visualizing, since I didn't read the book or listen to the audio, but I'm going to keep it focused to journaling, or Scripture quotes.

So far, the day has been extremely smooth, and it has felt as if the day is longer - but in the good way. I've felt like I've been able to accomplish a lot more, in a shorter amount of time. Also, my patience level for my kids has been better - I am attributing this to the fact that I was able to spend some of the morning in prayer.

I can't wait to see how the rest of the days go. Janelle is posting a wrap up on September 22nd, and I intend to join her post that day too! Until then, you can watch my Instagram and Instagram stories for frequent updates on how the challenge is going.
