December Series: A prayer for FRIENDSHIP

Life can be so incredibly lonely at times. I have sure felt my share of loneliness, feeling like no one is there or no one understands or no one cares to listen. Think of the time that you were the loneliest and remember how you felt, what you needed, what you needed someone to do for you...

Now, think of how lonely it must be to be a slave to a master that belittles you, that uses you for whatever they want, a master that forces you to do unspeakable things far beyond your comfort zone.

How lonely must that be?

Join me in praying a friend for the victims of sex trafficking...

"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!"
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Our Father, our Friend,

we ask that you provide these men and women and children a friend in the middle of their loneliness. Send a person to them that they can confide in.

Someone that understands what they are going through, someone that listens and is attentive to their needs.

Help them to know your friendship and to rest in your comforting arms.

Send the right person to come along side them to encourage them, to lift them up, to remind them of your love and grace.

Let them not be alone and lonesome. Help them to be encouraged by a loving, gentle friend.

If you live in an area of high trafficking rates, be aware of ways that you can be helpful and on the lookout for the victims of this crime. Here are a few red flags to watch for:

  • Is not in control of his/her own identification documents (ID or passport)

  • Is not allowed or able to speak for themselves (a third party may insist on being present and/or translating)
Other
  • Claims of just visiting and inability to clarify where he/she is staying/address

  • Lack of knowledge of whereabouts and/or do not know what city he/she is in

  • Loss of sense of time

  • Has numerous inconsistencies in his/her story
