Coffee Talk // peace in the holiday hustle

Good morning. I am currently reading Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World by Joanna Weaver. So good. I'm finally onto the second chapter, but the reading has been so easy and the content is so applicable.

Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World

As I am just barley scratching the surface of the book so far, a verse at the very end of chapter one just gave peace to my heart. I wanted to share it with you since this time of year tends to be even more "Martha" than any of the rest of the year with all of the holiday running and planning and buying and wrapping and cleaning and cooking and baking and you get the picture.

Matthew 11:28
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

For all of you ladies out there, I know there is not one of you that at some point in this holiday season will feel completely overwhelmed, exhausted or at your breaking point because of all of the busyness or the discouragement or the heartache.

Stop and breathe.

Christmas and Thanksgiving time is supposed to be restful, peaceful and reflective. Take a bit of time to just think about that. The whole reason we as believers celebrate Christmas shouldn't be the gifts or the presentation or the busyness but the Christ. The one who came as a free gift. He gave himself for you and he never stops giving. He wants to give you rest, he wants to give you peace, he wants to be your focus. To remind us of this during this busy holiday season I made you a pretty printable.

While what you are doing I'm sure is wonderful, don't forget to pause every day and do something even more wonderful; reflect on Christ and the reason that we celebrate. Share with your children, your husband, your best friend or your mom. Someone that could also use a command to rest. The load we carry is nothing compared to the load that Christ took on while on the earth. Let's honor him by letting him consume us and wrap us in his peaceful embrace.

Enjoy your planning for the holiday season friends!
