Proverbs 31:27-29 || Starting a group just for Moms

She watches carefully all that goes on throughout her household and is never lazy.28 Her children stand and bless her; so does her husband. He praises her with these words: 29 “There are many fine women in the world, but you are the best of them all!” Proverbs 31:27-29

For the last few years I have really desired to begin a moms group just to connect local moms for refreshing conversation. When the burden first came to me we didn't have a consistent church that we were going to as a family. With Andrew working most Sundays and having to save our gas money for work we just didn't make it frequently. When Andrew finally had Sundays off we began going to a church in our home town. We liked it but it was so very hard to connect. Three years earlier I had attended a Bible study with a few other young moms but the connections and relationships just didn't stick.

When we started going back there I really wanted to start something, even a MOPs group I thought would be fun but I never received feed-back from anyone and it just fizzled out. I wasn't in a place spiritually for it to be healthy for me or the other moms at the time.

Since then, I haven't had the opportunity to join a mom's group or start one until now. When we moved back to our growing up area I knew there were going to be a lot more opportunities opening up for us. Andrew started working with the youth group as a small group leader and I co-hosted a cookie exchange at Christmas time at church. This spring, after Elliot came I began realizing that the boys and I have to get out of the house a couple of times a week to refresh us and I wondered how that could happen.

God nudged my heart by using Thrive Moms to inspire me to offer starting a mom's group at our church. I am excited to say that it was received with such excitement! I love that I have just been able to see so clearly God's hand on our moving process as well as where we ended up with our church.

Esther 4:14 If you keep quiet at a time like this, God will deliver the Jews from some other source, but you and your relatives will die; what’s more, who can say but that God has brought you into the palace for just such a time as this?”

The last part of this verse has continued to come to my ears and I just bask in the confidence that this is my time. My heavenly Father used the last five years to mold and shape me and prepared my heart to lead a group of young ladies like myself in being a mom and encouraging one another as women.

I feel like as moms we lose our identity in that so easily. We become JUST a mom. We forget that we are women outside of the puke, poop, spit, disciplining and teaching. There are many fine women in the world, but you are the best of them all!Proverbs 31:29 What blessed words to us as moms.

I am so looking forward to sharing this with the other moms at our church. I am excited for the journey that Christ has me on and look forward to what He is going to do through the group of ladies that come together!

Are you in a mom's group of some sort? Where do you find the most encouragement as a mom and a woman?
